Our Story
Thangka painting is more than a beautiful work of art. It is a tradition, a spiritual language, and a connection to the rich cultural heritage of the Himalayas.
Based in Kathmandu, Nepal, we are a second-generation family of Thangka collectors and resellers, carrying forward a passion for Himalayan art that began with the previous generation. What started as a deep appreciation for traditional Tibetan and Himalayan paintings gradually became a lifelong commitment to discovering, preserving, and sharing these remarkable works of art with people around the world.
Growing up surrounded by Thangkas, we learned that every painting has a story. Every deity, gesture, color, symbol, and intricate line has meaning. Behind each finished painting are years of discipline, knowledge, meditation, and devotion.
Today, we continue that family tradition by bringing together a carefully selected collection of Tibetan Thangka paintings and Himalayan artwork, connecting the ancient artistic heritage of the Himalayas with collectors, spiritual practitioners, art enthusiasts, and homes around the world.
A Thangka is a traditional Buddhist painting created according to highly refined artistic and iconographic principles. Traditionally painted on cotton or silk, Thangkas commonly portray Buddhist deities, mandalas, enlightened masters, sacred landscapes, and important teachings.
A traditional Thangka is not simply painted from imagination. Its composition, proportions, gestures, attributes, colors, and symbolism follow established traditions passed down through generations.
For this reason, creating a Thangka requires much more than artistic talent. It demands patience, concentration, knowledge of Buddhist iconography, and years of practice.
From the first carefully prepared surface to the final details, the process can involve countless hours of precise work. Fine outlines, delicate ornamentation, symbolic colors, intricate patterns, and detailed facial expressions come together to create a painting that is both visually extraordinary and spiritually meaningful.
Because we have grown up with these paintings and understand their importance, we are selective about the artworks we offer.
Our goal is not simply to offer a large number of paintings. It is to provide beautifully crafted, carefully selected Himalayan artworks that collectors can appreciate for their artistic quality, traditional character, and cultural significance.
We pay attention to the things that make a Thangka special: the precision of the drawing, composition, colors, proportions, iconographic details, finishing, and overall craftsmanship.
We believe that a Thangka should be something you are proud to collect, display, study, and pass on.
From Kathmandu to the World
Kathmandu has long been an important crossroads of Himalayan culture, art, spirituality, and craftsmanship. For generations, the Kathmandu Valley has been home to extraordinary artistic traditions, particularly the renowned Newar artistic heritage that has profoundly influenced Himalayan Buddhist art.
Being based here gives us a meaningful connection to the artistic world we represent.
Through our collection, we hope to make this heritage accessible to people beyond the Himalayas, whether you are an experienced collector searching for a particular deity or mandala, a Buddhist practitioner looking for a meaningful sacred image, an art lover fascinated by Himalayan traditions, or someone discovering Thangka painting for the first time.
